George W. Bush Declines To Endorse In 2024 Election:

Breitbart reported that following former Vice President Dick Cheney's endorsement of Kamala Harris, George W. Bush announced his withdrawal from any public presidential endorsements.


George W. Bush, the 43rd president of the United States, has long retired from the active political arena of endorsements.

His decision marks a continuation of his stance from recent election cycles where he refrained from publicly supporting presidential candidates.

 

Shift From Active Politics to Non-Partisan Observer

The announcement came through a spokesperson who emphasized that President Bush retired from presidential politics years ago. Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are set to debate tonight on ABC.

It’s likely this will be the only debate between the two.

Kamala Harris’ momentum stalled out and private polling data shows the momentum is shifting to Donald Trump.

Given that this debate could be the last chance for Kamala Harris to alter the trajectory of the race, Kamala Harris tried to pull a power play to rig the debate in her favor.

Joe Biden initially demanded a set of rules for his debate where the microphone of the opposing candidate would get muted when the other was speaking.

 

The muted microphone prevented Donald Trump from interrupting Biden when he spoke.

That proved to be a major miscalculation by Democrats as in the first debate in 2020, Trump turned off voters by constantly interrupting Biden in the hopes of throwing Biden off his game.

Muting the microphone allowed voters to concentrate on what Biden was saying and that focused all the attention on his cognitive decline.

Kamala Harris’ handlers worried that this time the muted microphones would eliminate any chance of Kamala Harris to stage a contrived moment where Trump interrupted her and Kamala shot back at Trump with her “I am speaking” line.

Depriving Kamala Harris of that moment also meant that when Kamala Harris spoke voters would get her uninterrupted word salads.


And the one thing Kamala Harris’ handlers have done so far in the campaign is try and limit any chances voters get to see the unfiltered Kamala Harris speak.

 

Kamala Harris surrenders on debate demands 

Donald Trump and his campaign held firm on the fact that the already agreed upon rules included muted microphones.

And Kamala Harris had no choice but to give in.

 

Kamala Harris’ campaign announced their surrender in a petulant letter that tried to set expectations low for the debate by claiming it was unfair Kamala Harris wouldn’t get to conduct a live cross examination of Donald Trump.

“Vice President Harris, a former prosecutor, will be fundamentally disadvantaged by this format, which will serve to shield Donald Trump from direct exchanges with the Vice President,” the letter from Kamala Harris’ campaign read.

The campaign tried to pretend like Kamala Harris was being the adult in the room by agreeing to the rules that were already in place for the debate.

 

“Notwithstanding our concerns, we understand that Donald Trump is a risk to skip the debate altogether, as he has threatened to do previously, if we do not accede to his preferred format. We do not want to jeopardize the debate,” the letter added.

But the goal of the letter was to put the excuse in place that Donald Trump forced Kamala Harris into a supposedly unfair format to pre-emptively explain away any poor performance.

Politico reported that federal agents targeted major figures within Mayor Eric Adams' circle, seizing devices and demanding records.

The federal actions commenced before dawn, focusing on key administrative figures. Among those impacted were first deputy mayor Sheena Wright, schools chancellor David Banks, deputy mayor for public safety Philip Banks, and NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban.

Canada becoming safe haven for terrorists under Trudeau Liberals

Let’s take a closer look at Canada’s utterly broken immigration system, which Trudeau invited the whole world to flood.


Canada, we’re in the middle of an immigration disaster that’s not just expensive, it’s downright dangerous. Terrorism is becoming a key Canadian export. 

While our politicians try to distract us with other issues like climate change, we’ve got real threats hiding in plain sight, right here in Canada. And the numbers coming from the U.S. northern border only scratch the surface.


Terrorists flagged by international security agencies have been walking freely in our country before trying to sneak into the U.S. How did we get here?

The Swanton Sector is the stretch of border across Vermont, New York, and New Hampshire, where apprehensions - people stopped trying to enter the US illegally - have spiked. In just 10 months of fiscal year 2024, over 15,000 people were caught trying to cross into the U.S. illegally.

But here’s the kicker: more than 1,100 of those people were known or suspected terrorists. And these terrorists were already in Canada, using our country as a springboard to the U.S.!

How did they get here? That’s the real question.

Let’s take a closer look at Canada’s utterly broken immigration system, which Trudeau invited the whole world to flood. 

The truth is, that our government has lost track of over 500,000 undocumented migrants. Half a million people are unaccounted for, right here in Canada. And in many cases, those people include individuals with dangerous intentions—individuals the Trudeau government has failed to keep out.


But it gets even worse. Just this past July, an asylum seeker who was granted Canadian citizenship in 2024 was charged with plotting to kill Jews in Toronto. This wasn’t just a random criminal—this man appeared in an ISIS video in 2015. In 2017, he was denied a visitor’s visa to Canada because of security concerns.


But what does the Trudeau government do? They grant him a visitor’s visa the next year. He then applied for asylum, and just this year, in 2024, he was granted citizenship. And now, this same man has been charged with plotting to carry out a terrorist attack right here in Canada.


This is a complete failure of Canada’s immigration system. A man who appeared in an ISIS propaganda video was not only allowed into the country but given asylum and later, citizenship. And it gets worse—this individual was actively plotting to kill innocent Canadian Jews when he was finally arrested. How did our security services miss this? How did our government allow this dangerous man to stay here? 

Think about this for a second. Canada has lost track of 500,000 undocumented migrants, and at the same time, 1,100 known or suspected terrorists have been apprehended at the U.S. border after freely moving through Canada.

Add to that the fact that we’re giving citizenship to terrorist-linked individuals like the one arrested in Toronto, and it’s crystal clear: our immigration system is a ticking time bomb.


While Trudeau and his Liberals grandstand about compassion and open borders, Canadians are left vulnerable. We’re watching our immigration system spiral out of control and the Liberals are scrambling to fix a system they broke before they are punished in the next election, like arsonists showing up with a bucket of water. 


Terrorists are exploiting our broken system, and the government seems content to look the other way. How many more terrorists have slipped through the cracks? How many are still here, waiting to strike? The fact that this man was plotting an attack in Toronto should send shockwaves across the country. But where’s the outrage? Where’s the accountability?


We’ve lost control of our borders, allowed dangerous individuals into the country, and failed to protect Canadians. Our reputation as a good neighbour is destroyed. Trudeau has got to go.

Food Prices in Canada:

These grocery items are expected to be cheaper this fall in Canada

Food items that are both healthy and economical to fill school lunch boxes this academic year

A new analysis that looked at food prices across Canada has a list of grocery items that are expected to be cheaper this fall. As classes go back in session, the analysis provides tips to parents who want to keep grocery prices from taking a bite out of school lunches.

 

Sylvain Charlebois, professor in food distribution policy at Dalhousie University, draws on data included in the university’s annual Agri-Food Analytics Lab report to come up with his findings. A full study will include prices and is due out in December.

The Bank of Canada cut interest rates by 25 basis points yesterday and is expected to make another such cut in October. According to Charlebois, the rate reductions would save a family with a $500,000 mortgage and a variable rate amortized over 25 years $1,800 a year, the equivalent of 246 to 345 school lunches.

 

“This rate cut, and hopefully one or two more this fall, will provide much-needed relief for struggling families,” he wrote in an email to the National Post. “In terms of retail, consumers have pulled back and are spending less, including trading down at the grocery store.”

 

Charlebois suggests certain food items that are both healthy and economical. For example, grapes and strawberries are more affordable alternatives to apples and oranges, which have seen a modest price increase, he found.

Fresh meats and vegetables, meanwhile, varied in cost. Lettuce and cucumbers have become less expensive, while the price of onion and sweet potatoes have climbed. Poultry, such as chicken breasts, thighs and drumsticks have become more affordable. And while beef products, such as stewing cuts and ground beef have gotten more expensive recently, prices are expected to drop this fall. However, turkey prices are expected to be up in the air as their supply might be lower.

 

The price of certain frozen fruits and vegetables are expected also to come down, making it a “flexible” and convenient addition, he added.

“The stronger Canadian dollar will likely continue to benefit consumers this fall,” Charlebois wrote. “These frozen items can be used in smoothies or packed directly into lunchboxes where they can double as a cooling element.”

 

As for pantry staples, the price of canned beans, pasta sauce and cooking oils have either become cheaper or remained stable, making it a good time to stock up. Canned tuna and salmon will become cheaper in the coming months, according to the forecast.

 

Dairy products, while modestly more expensive, are still affordable and good to throw into a lunchbox, Charlebois noted.

“Adding a small container of yogurt or a cheese stick to a lunchbox is still a nutritious and economical choice, ensuring that children receive necessary calcium and protein throughout the day.”

Charlebois’ analysis included the price of 10,000 food items from across Canada. Their prices over the next three months were predicted using a machine learning model.

Ontario Students are going Crazy:

Increased prescription drug use by Ontario students hasn’t led to decline in mental illness...

The longest-running school survey of adolescents in Canada, ongoing for almost five decades, has shown a decline in mental health in Ontario in 2023.

 

Almost one in five of the over 10,000 Ontario students surveyed between Nov. 2022 and June 2023 reported attempting suicide in the past year, according to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health’s Ontario Student Drug Use and Health Survey.

While 18% of students reported serious thoughts about suicide in the past year, 19% said they harmed themselves on purpose. One in twenty, 5%, of students reported attempting suicide in the past year.

The 10,145 students surveyed were in grades 7 to 12 in 848 classes across 235 schools in Ontario. The data collected were based on self-reports submitted through anonymous questionnaires.

 

Since monitoring began in 2007, the percentage of students who rate their mental health as fair or poor has risen from 11% to 38%. Similarly, 37% of students reported elevated stress levels, up from 29% since monitoring began in 2015.


Dr. Hayley Hamilton, Co-Director of the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research, said in a press release issued by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health that these data should cause concern regarding youth mental health in Ontario.

 

“Currently, more than half of Ontario students report symptoms of depression and anxiety, and a third of students (31%) rate their ability to cope as fair or poor. This trend points to a generation under increasing stress and the need for continued and increased investments in youth mental health,” said Hamilton.

Ontario students are becoming less able to deal with the stress they face.

 

Between the first year of monitoring in 2019 and 2023, the percentage of students reporting an inability to cope with unexpected and difficult problems increased from 23% to 31%.

Increased medication use has not seen mental health issues improve. The percentage of students reporting medical use of ADHD drugs and the use of medications to treat anxiety and depression have both significantly increased since they were first monitored, from 2% to 5% and 3% to 10%, respectively.


While using prescription drugs has become more common, the opposite can be said for recreational drugs. Cannabis use and vaping have both decreased among Ontario students since 2019. Alcohol use and smoking cigarettes have both seen steady decreases over the last 25 years.

 

For the first time in the survey’s history, females are more likely than males to use certain drugs. Girls are more likely to use cannabis, 21% vs. 15%, vape, 18% vs. 9%, and drink alcohol, 39% vs. 33%.

 

One-third of Ontario students surveyed, 33%, said that they felt they needed mental health support from a professional during the past year but did not seek it. The most common reasons for not seeking support were thinking they could handle it themselves, worrying about how others would perceive them, and not having enough time.

 

Dr. Leslie Buckley, Chief of the Addictions Division at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto said that the recent research should be a call to action for parents and young people.

“It’s crucial that we continue to break down barriers to seeking support. If you’re struggling, please know that help is available and that asking for it is a sign of strength, not weakness.”
