De-Santis addresses Repealing Law that allows Disney to Self-Govern:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis addresses the possibility of releasing a 55-year-old state law that allows Disney to effectively govern itself on the grounds of Walt Disney World.
According to a report by Fox News the governor’s decision has been sparked by Disney’s pushback against the recent parental rights bill that was recently signed into law.
DeSantis said on Thursday that the company’s opposition to the parental rights law is something that is a matter of principle at a press conference in West Palm Beach.
“What I would say as a matter of first principle is I don’t support special privileges in law just because a company is powerful and they’ve been able to wield a lot of power,” DeSantis said Thursday.
Disney’s response
Disney has stood up firmly against the bill which prohibits classroom instruction on “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” with children in third grade or younger “or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”
The Florida governor said that Disney has “lost a lot of the pull that they used to have” over the company’s reaction to the parental rights law and said he thinks that’s a “good thing for our state because the state should be governed by the best interest of the people.”
“I would say any special privileges that are in law I would like to get rid of generally,” DeSantis added.
“Certainly not appropriate now”
“I think in this particular case with Disney, I just don’t think you have very many people in the legislature anymore who are going to be able to defend a lot of what has been done over many years to really have them almost govern themselves in some of these things. That was probably never appropriate to start, but is certainly not appropriate now at this point.”
Florida State Rep. Spencer Roach tweeted that he has met with legislators to discuss repealing the self-governing law following
DeSantis’ comments in response to Disney’s recent actions.
“Yesterday was the 2nd meeting in a week with fellow legislators to discuss a repeal of the 1967 Reedy Creek Improvement Act, which allows Disney to act as its own government,” Roach tweeted. “If Disney wants to embrace woke ideology, it seems fitting that they should be regulated by Orange County.”
Backlash
DeSantis signed the bill this week, which prompted Disney to release a statement: “Florida’s HB 1557, also known as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law,” Disney said.
“Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that. We are dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ members of the Disney family, as well as the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and across the country.”

Guantanamo Bay prisoner Sufiyan Barhoumi was transferred to Algeria, the Pentagon announced Saturday, leaving 37 detainees at the detention facility.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The United States has repatriated to Algeria a man who was held at Guantanamo Bay for nearly two decades after being accused of conspiring with al Qaeda, the Department of Defense said on Saturday.
The department identified the man as Sufiyan Barhoumi, a native of Algeria, and said his detention at the U.S. military base was "no longer necessary."
Barhoumi had arrived at Guantanamo Bay in 2002, the year the base's detention camp was set up following a U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan in pursuit of the al Qaeda network behind attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people in New York, the Pentagon and rural Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001.
The camp has drawn worldwide condemnation for holding large numbers of prisoners without charging them or holding trials. Its population peaked at about 800 inmates, then declined sharply during the 2009-2017 Obama administration.

Government In Canada Remove "Father, Him, Son" From Written Regulations:
In the name of "inclusivity," the Provincial Government of British Columbia has stricken 750 words from the public record:
90% of the amendments address binary language such as “he,” “she,” “himself," and the remaining 10% amend gender-specific terms like “aunt,” “father” or “son.”
“The language we use shows how we think about people."
It certainly does. Based on the B.C. government's censorship agenda, they don't think much of the word "father." Nor do they care for any other words associated with a reference to a specific gender.
Grace Lore, Parliamentary Secretary for Gender Equity, issued a statement on B.C.'s full-on indulgence in Canada's woke revolution:
“It’s a way for government to make life a bit easier for the thousands of British Columbians who face unnecessary barriers due to outdated language and to help address gender bias.”
Check out the attitude: according to Grace Lore, "thousands of citizens" are in favour of eradicating gender identity in British Columbia. This leaves some 5 million Canadians out of the picture. Not that any thinking Canadian should be surprised. The situation exists as a microcosm for the state of "post-modern" Canada. Government bend themselves over backwards to accommodate a tiny sliver of society. Those who dare to disagree are racists, homophobes and transgender-haters.
It is by this method that Canada's Woke Army control the majority. Make no mistake-- this is the future of our country. Call it an inversion of the totalitarian principle. As exemplified by the concept of "wordspeak" drawn from the novel 1984, George Orwell's meditation on totalitarian governance.
People like Grace Lore appear to be blind to the big picture. The profundity of these social transformations cannot be underestimated-- the very reason why mainstream media do not speak of this phenomenon. Yes, indeed-- Canada is headed for what one may call a destiny imbued with "pink fascism."

Included in their "inclusivity" is the exclusion of those who fall outside the cult of wokism: heterosexuals, conservatives, and Christians. Speaking of the latter, it appears the Lord's Prayer is done like dinner. Say goodnight to "our father in heaven."
How apropos it is. Communism never much liked the Christianity anyway. Take a look at the government of China, and their persecution of Christian communities. In the spirit of the preferred nation of Justin Trudeau, government has waged an all-out assault on the Christian faith. The rise of Covid found at least a dozen Christian pastors behind bars. Not so for Trudeau's sacred religions of Islam and Sikhism.

By 53-47 vote, Senate blocks Biden pick to lead Labor Dept. Wage and Hour Division:
In yet another blow to the floundering administration of President Joe Biden, the nomination of David Weil to lead the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor was scuttled in the Senate on Wednesday, with three Democrat lawmakers joining Republicans in a final vote of 53-47, as the Daily Caller reports.
Biden’s choice of Weil for the post had long been the subject of significant GOP criticism due to positions he took during his prior tenure in the same role during the Obama administration, but in the end, Democrat Sens. Kyrsten Sinema (AZ), Mark Kelly (AZ) and Joe Manchin (WV) crossed the aisle to join in opposition to his nomination moving forward.
Weil’s previous policy stances promoted Republican senators to fear the imposition of onerous regulations likely to bring about negative effects on independent contractors, small businesses, and even corporations that operate under a franchise model, as the New York Post noted.
In explaining his decision to oppose the nomination, Manchin stated, “Mr. Weil’s track record and previous statements are problematic for many West Virginia employees and business owners. Ultimately, I could support Mr. Weil because I do not believe that the health and well-being of our small businesses and the employees who rely on their success would be his utmost priority.”
