‘Victory’ for Teacher Barred from Praying in the Presence of Students:

The American Center for Law and Justice (SCLJ)  announced a victory in its fight for a public school teacher’s right to pray.

 

SCLJ filed suit on behalf of teacher Staci Barber against the Katy, Texas, Independent School District.  The school district told Barber it was illegal for her to pray where students could see her, even in a parking lot.

The litigation stems from an incident when Ms. Barber was brought into her principal’s office after she had gathered with two friends and fellow teachers to pray at the school flagpole prior to her workday.

The principal told them that it was against the law for the teachers to pray publicly where students could see them, even denying them the ability to pray in the parking lot.

 

SCLJ shares that as part of their litigation, the court found that since the school has updated its policy in response to their demand letter, “[A]t present . . . there is no language in the Employee Handbook that explicitly prohibits praying in the presence of students.”

This ruling effectively prevents the school from violating our client’s right to pray even if students might see her.

 

It is a tremendous win for our client because she can now pray when she desires as this case continues to trial.

Because of our initial legal demand, the school removed some language from its policy. But despite Katy Independent School District’s (ISD) purported attempt to correct its policy, our client was still unable to engage in any prayer in the presence of students or to pray publicly, even off the clock, when she was on school grounds. When the school did not respond to our repeated attempts to get this policy corrected and make sure our client could pray, we had no choice but to file this major lawsuit on our client’s behalf to protect her right to pray.

 

In our lawsuit on behalf of this teacher, we sought a preliminary injunction. Yesterday the judge issued an order regarding our request for an injunction. The judge found that there is no imminent danger of our client being banned from praying in the presence of students anymore because “while it is true that the Employee Handbook originally forbade prayer in the presence of students . . . at present . . . there is no language in the Employee Handbook that explicitly prohibits praying in the presence of students.”

 

Thus, after many months of the school district refusing to stipulate that our client could pray in the presence of students, the court has now ordered it. And if the school punishes her when she resumes praying while students are present, we can come back to the court with this and hold the school accountable. This ruling represents a major win for what we sought in this lawsuit, and. the order will help protect our client and others like her at Katy ISD.

Fast food has become a luxury purchase for working-class Americans

Much like the prices of virtually every good and service known to mankind, the price of eating out at a fast food restaurant has exploded under President Joe Biden.

 

But Fast food prices are surging far more rapidly than the already exceedingly high rate of inflation.

What was once a much quicker and affordable option for American consumers than other restaurants – or even cooking at home in many cases – has now become a luxury purchase for most working-class Americans as a result of Biden’s failed “Bidenomics” agenda.

 

And that’s not hyperbole – a recent poll from LendingTree found that 78% of all respondents now view fast food as “luxury” purchases.

To make matters worse, that number surges to over 80% for working-class Americans who make less than $30,000 per year, and families with kids.

NewsNation’s Kelsey Kernstine recently highlighted a startling new report from FinanceBuzz that exposed the dramatic increase in fast food prices during an appearance on Morning in America.

 

“It really makes sense when you break it down because McDonald’s Big Mac — it’s now more than $8 when just a few years ago it was half that price,” Kernstine explained. “So according to FinanceBuzz it says that prices at McDonald’s have more than doubled 100% since 2014, Popeye’s prices have jumped by 86%, Taco Bell doing the same, up more than 80%. At Subway there’s no longer a foot-long for $5.”

Value menus and promotional items like Subway’s $5 footlong or Little Caesars’ $5 Hot-N-Ready pizza have either been phased out or seen their prices also increase as a result of surging costs.

 

Now, combo meals routinely cost well over $10 at most every fast food chain.

“These prices have even outpaced inflation, the Bureau of Labor Statistics says that fast food prices have even climbed faster than grocery prices,” Kernstine added.

Another sign consumers are being hammered by inflation

The Biden cost of living crisis is forcing Americans to alter their lifestyle to make ends meet.

“In a new survey by LendingTree they interviewed 2,000 people and nearly 80% of people say fast food is a luxury, more than 60% say they’ve cut back on eating fast food because of the prices,” Kernstine said. “Many of those surveyed say they see it as an indulgence because they are struggling financially, especially those making less than $30,000 a year.”

 

Kernstine noted that fast-food franchisees are blaming inflation for the price hikes at their restaurants. 

The cost of eating out has jumped by 22% since Biden entered the White House in 2021. 

Minimum wage increases in Democrat-controlled states, like California, and labor shortages from the ruling class elite’s efforts to pay people not to work have sent the cost of labor skyrocketing.

 

And that increase in labor costs – not to mention the increased cost of materials needed for production, equipment, energy, taxes, and so much more – are being passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices.

Franchise Consultant Nick Neonakis told NewsNation that increased automation in fast food will help the industry cut costs.

 

“You’re already seeing it with the kiosk ordering in a number of the different locations that are out there,” Neonakis said. “Behind the line where the food is being made, that’s the next thing that you’re going to see: Robotic burger flipping, robotic fries and so on.”

 

Even a McDonald’s cheeseburger is now out of reach for many Americans struggling to get by in the Biden economy.

And with voters heading to the polls in just over five months, that’s trouble for Joe Biden.

Second Annual Ban Non-Government and Special Interest Group Flags Campaign:

June has arrived, and with it the LGBTQ+ demands for preferential treatment.

This action letter is in regards to the segregation, discrimination, inequality and discontent being created as a result of non-government flags, and those of political and special interest groups, being raised in/at government spaces such as schools, city halls, libraries, and on police uniforms.


For instance, organizers of Pride month are demanding and expecting their flag to be flown throughout the month of June and they have also lobbied the police to wear the Pride flag symbol on their uniforms.

To ban something is not censorship when the laws of the land, including the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, are being violated. If the law states that everyone is equal under the law and that public spaces are to be neutral, then it is a reasonable expectation for it to be so.


Side question: Why is there only one day a year allotted to celebrate Canada Day and only one day for our Veterans, but a whole month to celebrate a highly political special interest group? Further, should we continue to permit the pride parades which have become a platform for public debauchery, nudity and lewd adult performances?


Are you aware that public spaces must remain neutral? The “Duty of State Neutrality” stipulates that neutrality must be adhered to and upheld by elected officials and must be done so without favour and in respect of the law. Giving special rights to any one group is divisive and unlawful.


The RCMP/Municipal Police have two main responsibilities, to keep Canadians safe and to enforce the law and they must also be politically neutral.

Also, according to Section (15) of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, citizens have the right to be treated equally under the law.


“Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination”.

Do you feel that your right to equal treatment is being trampled on in favour of special interest groups? If so, then please sign and send the letter to "Ban all Non-Government and Special Interest Group Flags" to your local politicians, school principals, libraries and your local police.


The Pride flag is political and divisive in nature and the creator of the Pride flag, Gilbert Baker, did not mince words when he declared its meaning:

“That’s what flags are for. Flags are about proclaiming power… that visibility is Key to our success and to our justice.”

With this in mind…do we want the Pride flag being raised at our schools claiming power over our youth? …or our cities?

It is time for elected officials and other individuals who have blindly supported the 2SLGBTQ agenda, possibly with good intentions, to do their research and cease and desist capitulating to their demands. The loud voice afforded to the 2SLGBTQ activists must be tempered and it is imperative that the voice of reason, rationale and common sense prevail.


Therefore, use this new letter resource to request that only the federal, provincial and municipal flags be permitted to be raised in all public spaces, to maintain unity and peace and to respect the equal rights of ALL citizens according to the rule of law and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
