Andrew Bridgen: What has suspended MP said about vaccines?

The Conservative MP Andrew Bridgen has been suspended by his party after comparing the side effects of Covid vaccines to the Holocaust.

 

In a tweet - which he has since deleted - he claimed that an unnamed cardiologist told him it was "the biggest crime since the Holocaust".

The North West Leicestershire MP began the pandemic raising concerns about lockdowns and later opposing the idea of mandatory vaccination, but he praised the UK's vaccine roll-out and tweeted encouraging others to get the jab after his first dose.

However, in recent months, he has made increasingly misleading statements about vaccine safety.

 

Calling for vaccines to be suspended

In December 2022, Mr Bridgen called in Parliament for a "complete suspension" of Covid vaccines based on what he described as, "robust data of significant harms and little ongoing benefit".

This went against the overwhelming weight of evidence, from a number of different independent teams of researchers, that found that Covid vaccines' benefits far outweigh any known harms.

The latest figures suggest the vaccines are more than 90% effective at preventing deaths, falling to 50% after six months.

 

Older people still have around 60% protection against hospital admission, nine months after receiving a booster jab.

Serious side effects do exist but they are rare.

After more than 45 million people received at least two doses in England and Wales, 59 deaths involving the vaccines had been registered as of November 2022 - though more may be recorded as it takes time for such deaths to be investigated.

 

There were 15 reports of suspected heart inflammation or scarring (myocarditis or pericarditis) for every one million second doses of the Pfizer vaccine given in the UK up until the end of last November according to the UK Health Security Agency, and roughly 11 cases of an unusual type of blood clot linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine per one million doses.

 

A Danish study of four million people found no link between vaccination and risk of heart failure among people who developed myocarditis or pericarditis.

These risks vary by age and this has been taken into account by health bodies who have made decisions about the vaccines.

When it became clear the risk from blood clots was too close to the risk from Covid in younger age groups, the recommendations for younger people changed.

Claims about vaccine side effects

Also in December 2022, Mr Bridgen told MPs: "There have been more reported deaths and adverse reactions following mRNA vaccination [Pfizer and Moderna] in 18 months than there has been to every conventional vaccine administered worldwide for the last 50 years".

At the time, we asked Mr Bridgen for the evidence for this.

He referred us to information drawn from the UK Yellow Card scheme - set up by the medicines and vaccines regulator (MHRA) for people in the UK to report their concerns or symptoms after having the jab. But that data can't be used to back up his claim.

 

The scheme works by allowing anyone to make a report relating to anything that happens to them after having a vaccine - the figures on their own cannot be used to tell if the vaccine was responsible for this.

The scheme can't be used to accurately measure how vaccine side effects have changed over time.

At different points, there might have been over-reporting - where the symptoms people record aren't actually caused by the vaccine - and under-reporting - where people don't record genuine side effects.

 

The MHRA said the fact that more people were reporting to the scheme was expected,"given the scale of the Covid-19 vaccination programme, and publicity in the context of the pandemic," rather than indicating a real rise in side effects.

It is also UK data and Mr Bridgen did not provide evidence to compare this with all conventional vaccines worldwide for the last 50 years.

A better way of understanding the level of vaccine side effects is to look at clinical trials.

These have helped us learn about genuine but rare side effects like blood clots and myocarditis. They have concluded that these are significantly outweighed by the deaths and illness that the Covid vaccines have prevented.

 

Claims of a cover-up

In December, Mr Bridgen claimed in Parliament that the head of a cardiology research department, who he did not name, with a "leadership role with the British Heart Foundation...sent out non-disclosure agreements to his research team to ensure that this important data [on vaccine harms] never sees the light of day".

When asked by The Times newspaper to provide evidence, Mr Bridgen failed to do so.

 

The British Heart Foundation said in a statement: "Scientific evidence shows that Covid-19 itself is much more likely to cause myocarditis than the vaccine is, and people who are vaccinated have a much lower risk of getting other serious complications caused by Covid-19.

 

"We employ a small leadership team of senior scientists and cardiologists to oversee and administer our research funding programmes, who also continue to undertake some of their own research. We can categorically say that nobody within this leadership team has acted in the way claimed by Mr Bridgen."

Since then, Mr Bridgen has also referred to Covid vaccines as "experimental gene therapy" - a term used by those who spread anti-vaccine conspiracies online. The vaccines do not affect DNA and therefore the NHS does not define them as gene therapy.

 

The BBC has approached Mr Bridgen for comment.

Update 13 January - Mr Bridgen has subsequently released a video statement, saying: "There are very reasonable questions to be asked about the safety and effectiveness of the experimental mRNA vaccines and the risks and benefits of these treatments."

The Union Of The Left And Islam… A Marriage Joined By Common Hatred Of Christianity:

Someone once sent me a thought-provoking editorial cartoon. I can’t reproduce it because it contains some vile language. So, I will just describe it and clean up the language.

 

The cartoon depicts in four panels a conversation between two young people in their twenties — a man and a woman. The woman was wearing the Democrat Party symbol. In the first panel, the man says, “I don’t believe that women should have any rights, and I think gays should be hanged.” The young woman responds, “Wow! What a complete primitive idiot you are! You must be a Republican!” “No,” responds the man, “I’m actually a Muslim, and those are my religious beliefs.” To which the woman replies, “Oh, I’m sorry! I apologize! I hope you don’t think I’m Islamophobic.”

 

A few days later, I received a similar cartoon that showed a Muslim man holding a sign that read: “Islam demands: Death for Homosexuals! No free speech! Women stay home and submit to their husbands! Death to infidels!”Standing next to him was a young woman of college age holding a sign with an arrow pointing to the Muslim. Above the arrow were these words: “I’m a liberal and he doesn’t really mean that.”

 

Values in Sharp Conflict

As these editorial cartoons so vividly illustrate, the love affair between the Left and Islam is mind-boggling because it is irrational. The Left claims to believe in freedom of thought, freedom of speech, sexual liberation, and democracy.

All of these beliefs are the exact opposite of those that are held dear by Islam. There is not a Muslim-dominated nation in the world today where there is a true democracy, free speech, a free press, and equal rights for women.

 

The history of Islam makes it clear that the moment Muslims become the majority in any society, they take action immediately to suppress freedom and repress all other religions. Further, the Left also scorns religion and exalts Man rather than God whereas Muslims believe in a god and hold their religion in high esteem.

So, what explains the odd couple represented by the unity of the Left with Islam?

 

The Unifying Force

There can be only one explanation — they are unified by their common hatred of Christianity. The Left considers Christians to be outmoded relics of the past who stand in the way of their pet “progressive” programs like abortion, same-sex marriage, euthanasia, the right to suicide, and Socialism. Further, Christianity is viewed as pie-in-the-sky nonsense that encourages people to rely on wishful thinking instead of reason.

 

Islam shares the Left’s hatred of Christianity. According to the Quran, Christians are infidels who should either be forced to convert or else be subjugated or executed. So, the Left rallies Muslims to its side in its effort to defeat all politicians with Judeo-Christian values. This means the Left united with Islam is a perfect example of the old saying, “Politics makes strange bed partners.”

The union of the Left with Islam is a marriage crafted by Satan.

Live Election Updates: Donors Said to Freeze Roughly $90 Million as Long as Biden Stays in Race:

It’s one of the most concrete examples yet of the fallout from President Biden’s poor debate performance. After mixed reviews of his Thursday news conference, Mr. Biden sought to turn the focus on his opponent.

Some major Democratic donors have told the largest pro-Biden super PAC, Future Forward, that roughly $90 million in pledged donations is now on hold if President Biden remains atop the ticket, according to two people who have been briefed on the conversations.


The frozen contributions come as he had hoped to turn the page on a weekslong crisis within his party following a nearly hourlong news conference on Thursday evening. That appearance — in which he delivered a few gaffes but also demonstrated a command of foreign policy — did not immediately seem to worsen Democrats’ fears about his viability, but it also did not silence the calls for him to drop out. After he was done speaking, three more House members joined the ranks of elected Democrats calling for Mr. Biden to end his campaign.


Here’s what else to know:

Michigan swing: Mr. Biden on Friday is headed to Detroit, in the crucial battleground state of Michigan, and will focus attacks on Project 2025, a blueprint of conservative policy proposals, created by former President Donald J. Trump’s allies, for a future Republican administration. Mr. Biden will be joined in Michigan by Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist and several Democratic members of Congress. He will travel to his beach home in Rehoboth Beach, Del., after his campaign stop in Detroit.

 

Democrats divided: Reactions to Mr. Biden’s high-profile news conference were mixed. The president delivered a competent presentation, and his performance in the unscripted setting heartened some of his supporters. One of his key allies, Representative James E. Clyburn, said on Friday that the party should stop talking about whether the president is fit to run and respect his decision to stay in the race. If he stepped aside, Mr. Clyburn, Democrat of South Carolina, said he would “absolutely” endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as the nominee.

 

Kamala Harris: Even as Mr. Biden dismissed the notion of making way for an alternative candidate, he defended Ms. Harris’s qualifications to one day be president. The Biden campaign has been quietly testing Ms. Harris’s chances against Mr. Trump this week.

 

Losing Hollywood: Ashley Judd on Friday became the latest prominent celebrity to call for Mr. Biden to step aside, saying that in her native Tennessee, “Americans have already made up their minds against President Biden.” Many in Mr. Biden’s stable of big donors in Hollywood have closed their wallets.

 

Trump’s V.P. pick: The former president said in a radio interview that he would prefer to announce who his running mate will be during the Republican National Convention “or just slightly before the convention, like Monday,” which is the day the convention begins. He appears to be giving more weight to political calculations in his selection.

For much of the past year, Donald J. Trump has described his perfect running mate as someone who could easily take over as commander in chief if needed and help him draw a contrast to President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

 

“It’s got to be somebody that can be a good president, which Biden doesn’t have,” Mr. Trump said in April during an interview with Hugh Hewitt, a conservative political commentator.

Representative Hakeem Jeffries, Democrat of New York and the minority leader, met one-on-one with President Biden on Thursday night to discuss the deep concerns many of his members harbor about the viability of the president’s re-election campaign.

 

In a brief letter he sent to House Democrats on Friday morning, Mr. Jeffries, a deliberate politician and a relatively untested leader, offered few details about the meeting, which took place at the White House after the president’s high-stakes news conference. The private meeting, Mr. Jeffries told his colleagues, had been set at his request.

A day after President Biden offered a news conference performance that his allies hoped would end conversations about replacing him on the Democratic ticket, Gov. Jared Polis, a Colorado Democrat, suggested such discussions remained “legitimate.”

 

In an interview on the sidelines of the National Governors Association meeting in Salt Lake City on Friday, Mr. Polis called on Mr. Biden to demonstrate “what will change that will enable him” to win in November.

 

Former President Donald Trump, in an interview on a conservative talk radio program, said that he did not think President Biden’s news conference was “the end” of his campaign. Trump said that the worst part of Biden’s Thursday appearances came ahead of the actual news conference, when he introduced President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine as “President Putin” after a meeting of NATO leaders in Washington.

Gavin Newsom, California’s Democratic governor, reaffirmed that he’s “all in, no daylight” as a top campaign surrogate for President Biden in a taped interview with “CBS Sunday.” He acknowledged receiving text messages from people urging him to lead the ticket, prompting him to “delete, delete, delete, delete.” He said he does not engage in the chatter.

Some major Democratic donors have told the largest pro-Biden super PAC, Future Forward, that pledges worth roughly $90 million are now on hold if President Biden remains atop the ticket, according to two people who have been briefed on the conversations.

 

The frozen contributions include multiple eight-figure commitments, according to the two people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity given the sensitivity of the situation. The decision to withhold such enormous sums of money is one of the most concrete examples of the fallout from Mr. Biden’s poor debate performance at the end of June.

Actor and Democratic activist Ashley Judd on Friday joined the ranks of prominent celebrities calling for President Biden to step aside, and for the party to choose a new nominee. “We do not have another day for distraction or division among ourselves,” Judd wrote in an opinion essay for USA Today. 

 

“Some in Washington may want to wait for the next week, the next press conference, the next network interview. Here, where I sit in rural Tennessee, it is clear that Americans have already made up their minds against President Biden, on top of the majority who love to vote for Donald Trump.”

A key Biden ally, Representative James E. Clyburn, said on Friday that Democrats should stop talking about whether the president is fit to run and respect his decision to stay in the race, noting that he still had time to change his mind before the party convention next month. If he stepped aside, Mr. Clyburn said, he would “absolutely” endorse Ms. Harris as the nominee.

After facing two weeks of questions about his age and calls to drop his re-election bid, President Biden will try to turn the nation’s attention back to his rival, former President Donald J. Trump, when he campaigns on Friday in Detroit.

 

Mr. Biden plans to focus his attacks on Project 2025, a blueprint of conservative policy proposals for a future Republican administration created by Mr. Trump’s allies, although Mr. Trump has denied involvement in it. He will also lay out the core policy proposals that he hopes to enact in the first 100 days of a second term, the Biden campaign said in a statement.

Canadians are rap idly learning about the pitfalls of the Charter and turning to the Bill to defend against arbitrary fines and arrests, as well as wrongful dismissal based on vaccine passport requirements. This article examines some of the history of both.  (See page 10)

 

There have been thousands of Bill wins regarding Covid-19-related charges. For example, Dave Freedom, who was criminally charged for protesting his charges, had them dropped in his challenge by using the freedom of speech and assembly portion of the Bill. W

 

In reading the Bill,4 the preamble indicates that the State is recognizing and protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms, i.e., God-given by virtue of being human. The State is committing to protect these rights. Note that this Act obligates the State, including the King, and puts no obligations on the citizens of Canada.

 

Part 1-1 of the Bill lays out those rights and freedoms recognized and protected by the government. It is the “Rule of Law” that individuals have a right to equal benefit and protection under the law. It protects the right to life, liberty, security of person, and enjoyment of property. It protects the freedoms of religion, speech, the press, and of assembly and association. It also guarantees legal rights, such as the rights to counsel and a fair hearing. Part 1-2 indicates the only way the Bill can be changed. Rights in the Bill are protected in Common Law, so they cannot be removed by legislation

 

And to date, no rights have been removed, nor has there been any attempt to do so, since the Bill was passed in 1960. Conversely, with the Charter, they can just bang out bylaws that violate all your rights under section 1 and leave it up to you to go to Court and challenge the reasonableness of the violations.

 

The best thing about the Bill is that you can cite it anywhere the government including police or private persons are enforcing Covid-19 measures with sanc tions. The Bill applies in all cases where force is used because this is federally regulated activity (Criminal Code of Canada) when they are using force. And the Bill can be cited without notice in all proceedings related to Covid-19 measures where force is used. This includes bylaw tickets, criminal charges, and Section 22 closures of churches or businesses

 

The Bill was presented to the federal parliament in Canada by John Diefenbaker and passed into law in 1960. The Bill was an attempt to codify all your Common Law rights that back the Bill up when used in formal proceed ings. When you use the Bill, you do not have to argue whether there was a good enough reason your rights were violated. To seek a remedy, you only have to show your rights were violated.

 

THE CHARTER 

The Charter of Rights and Freedoms opening state ment: “Section 1 The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and demo cratic society.” Right out of the gate, unlike the Bill that recogniz es your God given “human” rights, the Charter mere ly guarantees the “rights” laid out in the Charter. These are government-issued rights that can be and are cur rently being taken away easily without court or parliamen tary approval under the Covid-19 bylaws. And it eliminates the preamble from the Bill that talks about free individuals and free institutions and the importance of family. This was not an accident. This omission is to help us move towards communism where humans are not free, institutions are not free, and the fam ily has little or no importance. And it has eliminated the right to enjoy property (this is also a communist purpose as land rights interfere with their aim to control all land use) and the right to equality before the law and protection from the law.
