President-elect Donald Trump spoke favorably of H-1B visas for highly skilled workers in an interview with The New York Post on Dec. 28, appearing to align himself with Elon Musk in the ongoing heated debate over the issue.

“I’ve always liked the visas, I have always been in favor of the visas. That’s why we have them,” Trump told the outlet in a telephone interview. “I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I’ve been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It’s a great program.”

The H-1B visa program allows up to 65,000 highly skilled foreign workers annually, plus 20,000 foreigners who obtained an advanced degree from a U.S. institution, to fill specialized roles in the U.S. workforce.

Musk, a former foreign student, initially gained U.S. work status through an H-1B visa and recently defended the program for helping drive innovation and economic growth in the United States. Critics have argued the program undermines domestic job opportunities and lowers wages.

In his first term, Trump implemented restrictions on foreign worker visas and expressed criticism of the program. However, his 2024 campaign hinted at a potential shift, indicating openness to granting H-1B visas, or even green cards, to foreign-born graduates of U.S. universities.

Trump’s remarks to The Post were made a day after Musk vowed to go to “war” in defense of the H-1B visa program in response to critics calling for the visas to be eliminated.

“The reason I’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla, and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B,” Musk said in a Dec. 27 post on social media platform X, in response to a comment suggesting that the H-1B program should be “optimized” out of existence.

Earlier, Musk said in a Dec. 25 post that the United States needed to double its number of engineers, citing a shortage of “super talented” and “super motivated” individuals. While he expressed preference for hiring Americans, Musk stressed the importance of legal immigration for attracting the top 0.1 percent of engineering talent.

While Musk has argued that U.S. immigration policies should prioritize attracting top global talent, critics contend that the program often displaces domestic workers and drives down wages.

Musk’s endorsement of the visas has triggered heated debate online, as well as some opposition from factions within Trump’s political base and from conservatives more broadly.

Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, proposed reforms to the H-1B visa program that align tech industry interests with immigration restrictionists. In a recent op-ed, he advocated prioritizing higher-salaried, highly skilled workers to attract top talent while limiting overall visa numbers, addressing a key concern of Trump voters.

Krikorian suggested replacing the visa lottery and certain “chain-migration” categories with a merit-based system, reallocating visas to skilled workers on the basis of factors like education level and existing job offers. This approach, he argued, would increase skilled immigration while reducing overall immigration levels.

Countries like Canada and Australia use merit-based points systems of the type Krikorian has suggested. While there have been legislative efforts in the United States to adopt a merit-based system for guest worker visas, none have succeeded.

B.C. plans to give 'safer supply' fentanyl to minors. And parents won't have a say

No minimum age listed in protocols for providing youth with taxpayer-funded recreational fentanyl

In what constitutes a clear trampling of parental rights, British Columbia recently authorized the provision of “safer supply” fentanyl to youth across the province, regardless if parents are informed of, or agree to, this measure.

The provincial government has provided limited access to safer supply fentanyl since at least 2020, primarily through small-scale pilot projects. However, last August the British Columbia Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU), an influential research organization, published protocols permitting doctors and nurses to prescribe “safe” fentanyl tablets to adults and minors. The organization confirmed to me in an email that it had been contracted by the province to produce these documents “to further support clinicians prescribing safer supply across the province.”

While the B.C. government generally promotes its commitment to safer supply, it was oddly silent in this instance. I became aware of the new protocols only because two concerned addiction physicians contacted me shortly after their publication.

As there has been zero media coverage of this development — excluding a report I authored for the Macdonald-Laurier Institute (MLI), published last month — the provincial government has been able to ramp up the distribution of “safe” fentanyl with almost no public scrutiny.

This is a shame, as the new protocols are full of red flags, including a jarring near-absence of safeguarding measures when giving fentanyl to minors, to say nothing of the obvious ethical issues around underage consent.

The only special requirement for underage patients is the use of a “two prescriber approval system,” wherein one prescriber conducts the patient intake interview and another reviews the client’s charts before signing off.

A number of addiction experts have criticized this as deeply inadequate. Dr. Leonora Regenstreif, a Hamilton-based addiction physician, said she found it hard to imagine that two doctors or nurses working in the same clinic would significantly challenge each others’ prescribing decisions.

The protocols do not provide a minimum age for when youth can receive recreational fentanyl. When I asked the BCCSU whether a minimum existed, they did not reply.

The documents also make absolutely no mention of the rights and roles of parents of drug-addicted minors.

In an email, I asked the BCCSU: i) why the fentanyl protocols made no reference to parents; ii) what would the organization say to parents who do not want their children to receive “safe” fentanyl; iii) whether the BCCSU believes that drug-addicted youth can provide informed consent regarding “safe” fentanyl; and iv) what can parents do if they believe that their children are being harmed by safer supply fentanyl?

The BCCSU did not respond to these queries, despite generally answering other emails of mine over the past year.

If the province is going to dole out recreational fentanyl to minors, it should probably have strong evidence backing this decision — but apparently it doesn’t.

The protocols clearly state that, “To date, there is no evidence available supporting this intervention, safety data, or established best practices for when and how to provide it.” In fact, “a discussion of the absence of evidence supporting this approach” is actually required for securing informed consent from patients.

It seems that parents will actually be powerless to stop the government from supplying their children with fentanyl, as safer supply technically counts as a health-care intervention and youth have substantial control over their own medical decisions in Canada.

While some provinces set a minimum age (typically between 14 and 16 years old) for when minors can make such decisions, British Columbia has no minimum and relies instead on a fluid idea of “capability” — youth in the province are considered “capable” if they understand what a medical intervention involves, why it is needed and its risks and benefits.

Recommended from Editorial

Yet it is hard to imagine any scenario where a drug-addicted minor would be capable of providing informed consent for safer supply fentanyl, given that addiction hijacks the brain and inhibits rational decision-making. While adults have extensive rights to personal self-determination, which permits them to make impaired or self-destructive decisions if they so choose, it is hard to see why this same freedom should be extended to youth when it comes to using hard drugs.

It is true that many drug-addicted youth are in foster care or estranged from their parents, and that, for them, securing parental consent is near-impossible. Yet making an exception for this subpopulation, and permitting them to receive free fentanyl, could incentivize other underage drug users to cut ties with their families and run away from home to secure free drugs.

As parents are often a youth’s greatest asset for recovery, any safer supply system that undermines child-parent relationships is harmful.

In a sad twist, the same laws that allow the government to give recreational fentanyl to kids without parental consent also prohibit parents from sending their children to involuntary addiction treatment — in other words, the government won’t help you force your kid to get clean, but they will give them unlimited “safe” drugs against your will.

As I argued in my MLI report, “By reframing the provision of unlimited recreational fentanyl as medical care, the provincial government may inadvertently turn itself into a parent’s worst nightmare — an unstoppable drug dealer with endless supply and unrestricted access to their child.”

While Health Canada confirmed to me in an email that it did not play a role in the development of these protocols, it did not respond to a follow-up email where I asked if the federal government had any objections to giving recreational fentanyl to minors.

Revival Sweeping Through College Campuses Impacting Tens of Thousands:

UNIVERSITY of ARKANSAS – Crowds at Bud Walton Arena are usually there to cheer on Razorback basketball. However, this night was much different.

With loud voices and raised hands, nearly ten thousand college students joined together.

Abby Matthews, a college student, shared, "When we gather altogether – just that many people on a college campus – it's just really encouraging that our God is greater than anything we're going to face in this world."

As CBN News has reported, this UniteUS event was one of a series bringing the Gospel message to college campuses across the country.

Read the full story from CBN News: https://www2.cbn.com/news/us/revival-...

Tonya Prewitt, founder of UniteUS, explained, "We started at Auburn University. We had 5,000 students show up, and over 200 got baptized. We next went to FSU – Florida State, the second biggest party school in the nation. We had 4,500 students come, and I believe about 350 students got baptized at that event."

The movement then swept through the universities of Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina, with numbers growing along the way. Tonya calls the mission a simple one: Bring hope to a generation.

College student Haden Smith shared his experience. "Just getting to be with your neighbors and friends as they pray with you for your struggles and being open with those you normally wouldn't be open with – it was just overall powerful," he said.

Tonya added, "We've had students come in and say, 'Hey, I came in thinking I was going to take my life. I left with the most joy I have ever had. I came in not being part of any community, and now I am serving in a local church.'"

UniteUS events operate by connecting with Christian student leaders and feature speakers, testimonies, prayer, and baptisms.

Zac White, a Christian student leader at the University of Arkansas, expressed his expectations: "We're just expecting to see people really get lit on fire for what they've said they've believed for so long, or people that have never believed in Christ, Christianity, or the Bible and what it says their whole life – and we are going to see their whole life turn around."

Gen Z, as they are called, make up the majority of today's college students. Barna Research shows only 17% of that generation call themselves Christians, but more than half of all Gen Zers have a positive view of Jesus. UniteUS is designed to turn that positive view into a personal commitment.

Pastor Jonathan Pokluda, a speaker for UniteUS, highlighted the struggles students face. "They're coming in with guilt and shame – STDs, unwanted pregnancies, abortions. They're carrying guilt from even last night, from pornography. And they come here, and we're showing them the one – the only one – who can really deal with their sin, who's Jesus Christ."

Overhead, banners representing University of Arkansas college basketball championships hang. But tonight, a higher, unseen banner rose above the crowd – and it's changing lives.

Student Cale Matlock said, "It was awesome, just having 10,000 people that all love Jesus and worship God."

Tonya concluded, "I believe that America is set for the greatest revival our nation has ever seen. I believe it's starting with college students, and the hunger and fire we're seeing among college students and college campuses is just taking off. It's a movement."

Six more UniteUS events are planned on college campuses this fall [IV Quarter], and they're already gearing up for spring.

Where have we already experienced this phenomenon?

In Miami-Dade County, Federal Funding For "Affordable Housing" Displaces Working Class Minorities of New Republican Coalition In Li'l Abner Trailer Park:

Sweetwater, Florida - One problem with trying to raise opposition to federal funding is that it’s hard to trace bureaucratic causes to human effects. That’s not the case this month in the city of Sweetwater, part of the greater Miami metropolitan area in Miami-Dade County.

Here, in a neighborhood where glittering Christmas lights overlap with “Trump/Vance” signs in a county which Trump carried with 55% of the vote, and a state he carried with 56%, around 3,000 people are about to be displaced due to the Washington bureaucracy that Trump ran against. Matters are so bad that talk is that Washington might have to solve the homelessness problem that it helped to cause by using FEMA—an unsettling thought now that we know how FEMA treats Republican voters.

The formal displacer is Raul F. Rodriguez of CREI Holdings, the owner of Li’l Abner Mobile Home Park in Sweetwater, founded by his father, a Cuban immigrant who had grown up in a mobile home himself. But bigger forces are also at play. The main one is amped-up federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to Miami-Dade County, justified because of the seemingly endless and mostly better-off new arrivals escaping failing Democrat cities in New York, Illinois and California.

New developments have to be built to house them, sometimes by tearing down buildings, and housing also has to be provided for the working and middle class locals that they are displacing. These new arrivals drive up general costs as well as property taxes, which pushes more locals out and raises the demand for cheaper housing s.

Enter “affordable housing,” which, like “diversity” and “ equity,” is a helpful-sounding phrase that benefits bureaucrats, Democrats, and the better-off. Not surprisingly, in Miami-Dade, “affordable housing” is allowing federal money to flow to citizens who need it the least , even as it supports the projects of well-placed contractors and government bureaucrats . The people most hurt by the funding, in the meantime, are like those in Sweetwater: working class people with nowhere to go. The specifics of the crisis this Christmas in Sweetwater give a sense of just what’s being lost, and why, and what it might mean for Miami-Dade.

A Community of Refugees Grows…

Li’l Abner Mobile Home Park in Sweetwater is on the far west side of Miami-Dade County. It runs roughly 13 small blocks North-South between NW 7th Street and West Flagler Street; and two very large blocks East-West between NW 109th Avenue and NW 114 Avenue. Aside from its name, it’s like any other neighborhood. Residents have added concrete siding, tiled walkways, sheltered porches, and even small colonnades to their trailers, making them into houses.

The residents tend to be elderly, but their children and grandchildren visit and sit with them on their porches and walk their dogs. There are trees on the streets and plants on the porches which rock in a gentle breeze. People call each other by first name as they walk by.

Under Raul F. Rodriguez’s father, the neighborhood was a good place to live for its mostly immigrant Cuban-American occupants, and to raise kids. According to residents, it had not just the houses but a pool, a park, and a school/daycare. The kids mostly left when they turned 18 years old, but their parents remained, and the kids come back home to visit, sometimes driving a BMW or a Lexus.

The residents I talked to assumed they would live here their whole lives. They paid rent on their land, but their houses were home. One is a veteran of Brigade 2506, which fought at the Bay of Pigs. Another, interviewed by the Miami Herald, is a retiree who used his 401k to buy his mobile home: a lifetime investment.

The bad times came to the neighborhood between five and 10 years ago. The residents I talked to agree that they started after Rodriguez Sr. was replaced by his son. The big change was the growth of affordable housing apartments, Li’l Abners I, II, and III.

This led to the eradication of the school, the playground, and the park (though Rodriguez stated at the time that the school had decided to shutter prior to construction of Li’l Abner II) and to other changes besides. Residents who used to have mailboxes are now required to trek to one of the new apartment buildings to get their mail; a hard walk for someone in their sixties, seventies, eighties or older in 90 degree heat. Rent for the land has gone from $800 just a few years ago to $1,100—roughly the size of a social security check.…and Gets Displaced

Then, 16 days before Thanksgiving 2024, came the eviction letters—for once not dropped in residents’ new mailboxes, where they might not see them for a few days, but posted on their doors. According to the letters, Li’l Abner Mobile Home Park would be closing permanently in May 2025; residents would be provided a $14,000.00 allowance to relocate themselves and their mobile homes once they made arrangements. (They would still be paying their $1,100 monthly rent for as long as they stayed.)

For those who didn’t move until February, this $14,000.00 allowance would be halved, and then reduced by halves for each month thereafter until May.

Residents discovered that the reason for the displacement was the construction on the land where they were living of more affordable housing apartment blocs like Li’l Abners I-III—but when one resident went to the leasing office to check on prices, it became clear that this “affordable housing” was well outside their price range. And there were many other problems that the eviction letter didn’t address.

November and December, with the crunch of the holidays, aren’t ideal times to look for housing. $14,000 isn’t enough to find housing in a city where $1,000/month for a studio apartment is becoming unheard of in safe neighborhoods. Worse yet, many Li’l Abner residents welded their houses to the ground assuming they’d never leave.

That means that these houses residents poured cost and effort into making into homes will be razed to the ground: a shocking destruction of not just personal attachments but actual value. For the same reason, many residents hadn’t signed up for Section 8 housing which might help them relocate elsewhere; if they sign up now, they won’t be off the wait-list for at least several years.

Displaced Residents and their “Affordable” Replacements

I talked to one resident facing this final challenge: Romelia Fernandez, who is 95, came to America from Cuba in 1969, and has lived in the neighborhood for 30 years.

“We were taught to work hard,” a relative said. “My father worked in medicine in Cuba, and then as a dishwasher in Boston, and then we found our way back to Miami. We’ve played by the rules, we’ve paid our taxes; we escaped Castro, we love America.”

Now Romelia, 95, has to relocate, but to where? Housing is expensive, and she’s uncomfortable in a new neighborhood. Homelessness isn’t a possibility thanks to Romelia’s family, but she may need to move in with relatives. As Romelia and her family spoke to me on Romelia’s tiled, plant-filled porch, I could see Li’l Abner III, half-constructed, loom behind them in the sky. Was this really the way their story would end: refugees from communism displaced by a bureaucratic bulldozer?

And what, exactly, would be replacing them? When I visited Li’l Abner II, the leasing office’s glass door was locked and the community “club room” locked and unfurnished. None but one of the apartments’ doors were decorated. A small fountain played in the courtyard and a young woman sat next to it; neither she nor the other two people in the halls that weekday afternoon said hello to each other or to me. An Amazon delivery woman loitered at the door.

This didn’t seem like an improved neighborhood. It seemed like a knockoff “luxury” building that the owners knew they didn’t have to upkeep, because residents were receiving a reduced rate and wouldn’t feel able to press for more. Indeed, though Rodriguez’s CREI Holdings might have “stronger communities tomorrow” in its slogan, the reality seems like the opposite.

Certainly, CREI Holdings isn’t doing much to help the Li’l Abner community stay strong through its displacement. On December 4, three weeks before Christmas, residents were outraged when 61-year old Vivian Hernandez was arrested— “cellphone video shows the 61-year-old on the ground, being physically forced into handcuffs by [a Sweetwater police] officer”—after she went to the property’s office to pay her rent but then (according to a police report) “‘became angry and began to yell at the staff that was assisting in relocation.’”

That Sweetwater police officer reports to Mayor Jose “Pepe” Diaz. Clearly, there’s no room for expressions of dissent (or anger or fear or grief) in the “stronger community” that Li’l Abner is becoming.

Looking closer at the profile of Raul F. Rodriguez reinforces this perception—It shows that not just Rodriguez’s most recent development but his past success and much of his public reputation rest on the fiction of “affordable housing” backed by Democrats in Miami-Dade and Washington, D.C.

Miami-Dade County and D.C. Democrats Behind Working Class Housing Displacement

Sweetwater, Florida - The displacement of Li’l Abner Mobile Home Park residents in Sweetwater, Miami-Dade covered in your correspondent’s last report is being engineered by Raul F. Rodriguez of CREI Holdings, who owns the property. But investigating the support for Rodriguez’s projects opens a window onto bigger plans for growth that threaten Miami-Dade via the con of “affordable housing”—which, in the end, benefits Democrats backed by Washington, D.C.

Raul F. Rodriguez and his Backers

Unlike his father and earlier Miami developers of neighborhoods such as Coral Gables, Raul F. Rodriguez doesn’t live in the neighborhood whose land he owns and whose residents he is uprooting. His public profile suggests that he is playing to a different audience -- powerful, Democrat-leaning Miami movers, some with ties to Washington, D.C.

He speaks about the benefits of affordable housing to The Miami Herald, which ran a complimentary feature on Li’l Abners I and II in 2022. (“When Rodriguez isn’t working on development plans, the avid rock climber is preparing to continue climbing the seven highest mountains in the world. He thinks the difficulty…parallels the challenges that come with developing affordable housing in Miami-Dade.”)

He’s easily findable online via his nonprofit Li’l Abner Foundation, which funds “tutoring, dance, tae-kwon-do and archery” programs for students K-12.

Most important, by becoming a vocal champion of affordable housing, he has cultivated an audience of powerful officials invested in his growth. In May, 2022, the County gave Rodriguez a $2 million grant to cope with unexpected runover costs on Li’l Abner II’s construction.

In February of the next year, 2023, Miami-Dade County put out a statement about the opening of Li’l Abner II, and Mayor Daniella Levine Cava attended the ceremony. In December of that year, the County approved the Mayor taking the necessary steps to receive a $4 million grant direct from HUD for construction on Li’l Abner III. Rodriguez might be a private businessperson, but his projects are not free market transactions; they are government-backed.

And these government grants are not backing what they say they are backing, that is, actually affordable housing. The $4 million grant for Li’l Abner III states that “40% of the units, or 131 units” will be for residents earning no more than “ 80% of area median income,” which just qualifies them as “Section 8” housing, since 80% is the highest limit for Section 8. But “60% of the units, or 197 units,” will be “at 120% of area median income.”

This already puts Sweetwater residents at a disadvantage, since the area median income being used in the calculation appears to be Miami-Dade's, which is $71,000 as opposed to Sweetwater's at $53,159.

Rodriguez is also playing to changing income demographics, since Miami-Dade's area median income has grown from $68,300 in 2022 to $71,000 this year, which means more prospective tenants who can afford rents on the higher end of the "affordable housing" scale.

Reportedly, the soon-to-be-built developments on the land where the trailer park homes now stand will be open to “families who earn between 60% to 140% of Miami-Dade’s median income…” Put another way, only 20% of this income stretch will qualify as Section 8 housing. This gives Rodriguez enormous range to market the apartments to higher-income residents.

Washington, D.C. HUD Democrats Team Up with Democrats in Miami-Dade

On paper, support for Rodriguez’s “affordable housing” vision crosses party lines. The $2 million to cover overrun costs on Li’l Abner II came from the Democratic-majority County Commissioners, and the $4 million from HUD for Rodriguez was approved by them, while the $4 million was initially requested from HUD by Republican U.S. Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart. But Diaz-Balart doesn’t govern the growth of Miami-Dade, Democrats do.

It’s Democrats who have pushed the last four years of breakneck growth that’s created the environment in which Rodriguez is thriving—in tandem with the federal government.

From 2021 through 2024, the total yearly sum granted to Miami-Dade by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD’s) Community Planning and Development Office, which seeks to develop viable communities…for low and moderate income persons” through “the development of partnerships among all levels of government and the private sector,” was roughly $19 million. This has been padded by $17.7 million in 2021 from the American Rescue Plan, Biden’s COVID legislation.

Bigger infusions came besides from HUD’s Public and Indian Housing Office, after a 2022 visit with County Mayor Levine Cava from HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge, who explained that “I decided I was going to Miami, to the epicenter of the housing crisis in this country.”

The next year, Levine Cava announced that the county received a $40 million HUD grant via the Public and Indian Housing Office for transforming a community in South Dade into a “resilient mixed-income community.” The following year, the County received $39.9 million from HUD’s Public and Indian Housing Office for building affordable housing in the historically black neighborhood of Overtown.

The Housing Con

But both of these projects are less helpful than they might seem at first glance. In practice, “mixed income community,” the description for the South Dade development, is a weasel word: a phrase which in practice can mean either a complex built for “moderate and low-income families” or one with “a small percentage of [truly affordable units],” which are often included “to qualify for municipal subsidies.”

And, when it comes to Overtown's development helping its residents, one politically-connected source poured cold water on the idea, speaking about a past development in the historically black neighborhood: “They built a supermarket and an apartment complex we’d been pushing for years, then the rents were so high nobody from the neighborhood could live there.” Public comments from neighborhood residents echo this concern about the current Overtown redevelopment. And, tellingly, other massive proposed developments in these areas are leaving artfully undefined the question of just what “affordable housing” means.

Insider testimony suggests that it doesn’t mean most people currently in the neighborhood can afford it. One well-placed player in the Miami-Dade real estate scene was blunt about what affordable housing means in practice: "It's a bullsh-t term. The question is, affordable for whom, and when you start asking the real questions to find that out--how big are the units, how many, how high in air, what are rents--the 'affordable housing' label usually comes apart."

This makes logical sense: after all, it’s the new arrivals, the higher-income displacers who can afford un-affordable "affordable" units, who really benefit the county government. As wealth has poured in, taxable property values have skyrocketed: 10.2, 12.3, and 10 percent in 2021, 2022, and 2023 respectively. So far, Levine Cava has played to the electorate by avoiding raising property taxes, but “property-tax revenue continues to grow from new construction and rising property values…and the county is predicting a revenue squeeze in the coming years,” which can be solved by higher property taxes.

Meantime, government spending has increased: in 2025, the start of Levine Cava’s second term, “Miami-Dade is projected to spend about $560 per resident…up nearly 8% after four years,” a greater increase than under her Republican predecessor. Last year’s actual county budget increased 9.4 percent from the year before; and the newly proposed 2025 county budget represents another 9 percent increase. Some of this funding is made available for “water warrior” Levine Cava’s and her allies’ real priority, which I’ve recently written about: using growth as an excuse to enact costly and onerous policies to “fight” climate change.

All the while, Levine Cava is moving for more revenue-producing growth. She’s fast-tracked permitting and proposed policies promoting “densification”: allowing multiple house building on single lots, no matter what kinds of neighborhoods this creates or whether it encourages rentership not buying. Others of her housing policies are interferences in genuine free market transactions, and band-aids on the bigger housing problem she’s helping create.

For example, according to The Miami Herald: "In 2022, Levine Cava created a grant program to fund lawyers for low-income tenants fighting eviction from landlords over unpaid rent and other alleged lease violations. In Levine Cava’s 2025 budget proposal, the program costs $1 million, on top of $10 million in 2022 for landlords who agreed to keep middle-class rents flat for three years.”The Republican

Opportunity

Levine Cava’s agenda matches a push nationally as Democrats, struggling to recover from a decisive November defeat, are using housing crunches to cast themselves as champions of renters and affordable housing.

Not surprisingly, their proposals involve massive government interference in the free market. Last year, by contrast, Florida Republicans passed the most wide-ranging legislation, the Florida Live Local Act of 2023, in recent state history trying to carefully address the housing crunch while preserving incentives for free market development.

But, unfortunately, the law has an unintended Achilles Heel: “affordable housing” is all over it. Today, according to one politically connected source, “affordable and workforce housing” is Tallahassee’s phrase of the moment—exactly the phrase Raul F. Rodriguez uses to describe the buildings for which the Li’l Abner residents are being displaced.

Tellingly, affordable housing is defined by Florida statutes, like it is by HUD, as amounting to no more than 30% of a family’s income; in Florida’s case so long as they make 120% or less of their area’s median income. This is a very wide stretch.Unless Florida Republicans tighten up what they mean by this phrase and make the term apply to people like those in Sweetwater, displacements will continue, and “growth” will continue to benefit Democrats and their constituents.

But Washington Republicans have a role to play too: (1) by tightening the requirements on what kind of affordable housing HUD will fund; and (2) by passing an executive order refusing to provide HUD funding for projects that involve displacements.

Both of these moves would be good politics, since, in Miami-Dade and across the nation, Republicans won the 2024 election by bringing into their coalition those most hurt by the building boom: working class minorities.

When it comes to Li’l Abner residents about to be displacedthere’s a likely fix available that’s been used in other neighborhoods in Miami via the County government: open up Section 8 housing to these residents, allowing them at least comfortable shelter.

The County should also hold hearings and compel Raul F. Rodriguez to testify as to the hows and whys of his decision to displace 3,000 mostly older citizens around the holidays—in order to ensure the county government never funds such a decision again.

Again, for Republicans to make this an issue would be good politics. But it would also be good humanity, since the story of Li’l Abner begins and ends with a bottom line fact.

This Christmas season, while Raul F. Rodriguez fundraises for his foundation or plans another mountaineering adventure and Daniella Levine Cava oversees the infusion of unprecedented HUD funding into Miami-Dade, 3,000 county residents who’ve spent their lives playing by the rules are getting ready to leave their homes—to go out below the housing line into the uncertain future, the proverbial cold.

Sun. 29 Dec. 2024 We are in the midst of the most significant military operation in history, and it’s about to reach a critical point. …David Wilcock

  • ·        Since March 2020, the United States has been under the control of a federalized National Guard, supported by the US Navy, Coast Guard, and a global military alliance. This isn’t just another operation; this is Operation Castle Rock—a covert military action aimed at exposing corruption and restoring justice.

  • ·        Phase One is Complete. The military has successfully trapped the corrupt Washington establishment, and now we are moving into Phase Two.

  • ·        The Supreme Court has already made its decision on the Brunson vs. Adams case, which is set to blow the lid off the 2020 Election fraud. Congress’s failure to investigate the widespread voter fraud is about to bring down the entire Biden administration and all of Congress.

  • ·        A trusted military source has leaked that within the next 24 to 48 hours, the Supreme Court will announce the government’s shutdown and its replacement. Are you ready for the Great Comeback? The global media is prepping for Disclosure Day, where GESARA’s principles, the largest wealth transfer in human history, and the new global economic system will be revealed. This synchronized broadcast will reach billions, utilizing the Emergency Broadcast System (EBS) to deliver the truth to the masses.

  • ·        Get ready for 10 days of communication darkness. Shutdowns will occur, but only in certain areas. Banks will close, ATMs and credit cards will stop working, and you’ll need at least three weeks of food and water. If you’re unprepared, don’t worry—the military has your back and will supply what you need. Nonstop education will be broadcast, teaching everyone about the true principles of freedom and justice.

  • ·        Operation Castle Rock is also bringing justice to those who have committed treason. Military tribunals are in full swing at GITMO, Diego Garcia, and other secret locations, where the global elite are being tried and sentenced for their crimes against humanity. This operation will restore our nation to the principles of 1776, overturning the corrupt laws of the past and implementing a new system of justice.

  • ·        Soon, vaccines will be ruled illegal, and Med Bed treatments will become available to heal the damage caused by these toxic injections. The Quantum Financial System will release NESARA/GESARA funds, erasing debts and restoring our economy to the prosperity of the 1950s.

  • ·        Mark your calendars—Disclosure Day is coming, and with it, the dawn of a new era of freedom and justice. The world will finally know the truth, and we will witness the greatest comeback in history. Get ready.
