Alan Dershowitz Announces He's Leaving The Democratic Party:

Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz has officially parted ways with the Democratic Party, marking the end of his decades-long affiliation. The renowned legal scholar cited his growing discontent with the party’s leftward shift as a key factor in his decision to become an Independent.


Just The News reported that Dershowitz’s departure stems from his dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party’s increasingly progressive direction, particularly its handling of key issues such as free speech and due process.


The announcement came on Friday when Dershowitz, known for his defense of civil liberties and constitutional rights, revealed that he could no longer identify with the party he once actively supported.

Over recent years, he has grown increasingly vocal about his concerns over what he perceives as the erosion of core values within the Democratic Party.

 

Criticism of the Party's Direction

Dershowitz expressed particular frustration with the Democratic Party's shift to the left, pinpointing its recent national convention as a turning point.

He took issue with the speakers featured at the event, including prominent progressives such as Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, along with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.


These figures, he argued, represented a movement within the party that no longer aligns with the principles he holds dear.

In a recent interview, Dershowitz explained that the Democratic Party's stance on critical issues such as the right to due process and free speech has drifted far from his own. "They no longer represent the same values that I believe in," he remarked, referring to the party’s current policies and priorities.


The shift within the party’s ideology, Dershowitz explained, was not just a matter of political philosophy but also practical policy.

He pointed to specific examples where he felt the party had abandoned its commitment to defending individual rights. Chief among his concerns was the Democratic Party’s handling of Donald Trump’s legal battles.


Dershowitz has been particularly outspoken about what he views as a politically motivated prosecution of the former president. In June, following Trump’s conviction in the hush money case, Dershowitz called the decision a “phony conviction,” arguing that it represented an unfair targeting of Trump for political reasons.

 

Uncertainty About November's Election

Despite leaving the Democratic Party, Dershowitz has not yet committed to supporting a specific candidate in the upcoming presidential election. He stated that his decision will depend on how the candidates approach key foreign policy issues, particularly regarding the Middle East.

"I want to see how they deal with Iran, I want to see how they deal with Iran's attacks on the United States," he said.


Dershowitz emphasized that U.S. policy toward Israel and its response to Iranian aggression will heavily influence his vote. He plans to wait until November 1 to make his decision, leaving open the possibility that his support could go in any direction.

Dershowitz’s exit from the Democratic Party is particularly notable given his long history with the organization. For decades, he has been a fixture within the party, advocating for civil liberties and serving as a staunch defender of constitutional principles.


His legal career, spanning more than half a century, has earned him a reputation as one of the country’s foremost constitutional scholars.

However, in recent years, his relationship with the Democratic Party has become strained. Dershowitz has consistently voiced opposition to what he views as the party's departure from classical liberal values, especially in free speech and legal protections for the accused.

One of the central issues contributing to Dershowitz’s departure was the influence of high-profile progressives within the party.

Watching candidates on TikTok who are also maybe banning TikTok

First there were cat lady memes. Then coconut trees. “White guy tacos.” The past few weeks of the U.S. election have been fought not only over stump speeches, but also on Instagram, Facebook – and, increasingly, TikTok.

 

The Harris campaign spent some $57-million on digital and social media ads in late July, my colleague Samantha Edwards reports. But is it money well spent? The experts on whether memes will translate into votes, she writes, are divided. ”The more they dig into the very online, the less they connect with the suburban moms,” CUNY Queens College professor Jamie Cohen said.

 

There’s also the awkward question of TikTok. It was only in April that President Joe Biden signed a law to ban the Chinese tech giant from the U.S. unless it is sold by the end of this year. The clock is still ticking on that deadline as the law makes its way through U.S. courts.

 

The rationale for the law, according to the U.S. government, was to protect American interests: “to prevent foreign adversaries from conducting espionage, surveillance, maligned operations, harming vulnerable Americans, our servicemen and women, and our U.S. government personnel,” said Democratic Senator Maria Cantwell.

 

And yet, in the months since, all four of the main electoral candidates have joined TikTok. The reason for this is clear: There are some 170 million TikTok users in the U.S. that each candidate hopes to turn into votes.

 

Former president Donald Trump (10.8M followers) posted his first TikTok back in June, from a UFC fight, with UFC president Dana White. His feed since has been a mishmash of The Apprentice memes, not just one or two but three videos with Logan Paul (the YouTuber-turned-wrestler best known for his video mocking suicide victims ), and ... this dance.

 

The feed of his running mate J.D. Vance (647K followers), meanwhile, is comparably staid: campaign speech clips, and the occasional appearance of his dog Atlas.

 

Kamala Harris (5M followers) joined the app in late July, followed a few weeks later by Tim Walz (1.4M). The latter, in true Midwest Dad fashion, immediately declared it “TimTok.”

 

So far, Harris has not commented on whether her TikTok account signals a shift on the issue of a potential ban. Back in March, before Biden signed the law on TikTok, Harris had seemed to signal reluctance, telling reporters that a ban was “not at all the goal.” And since joining TikTok, she’s been busy, singing “bye bye bye” to Donald Trump with Lance Bass from N’Sync, and trading recipes for greens with bacon at a campaign event.

 

Trump’s position on TikTok is similarly complicated. As president back in 2020, Trump tried to ban TikTok, citing the app as a security threat. He’s since reversed his stand. And in recent weeks, he’s attempted to position himself as the protector of speech on the app.

 

“For all those that want to save TikTok in America, vote Trump!” he said last week.

 

Still, there’s precedence for a ban. India, which was once TikTok’s largest market, banned the app in 2020 amidst a border conflict with China. The social media platform remains unavailable in the country. And just last week, Brazil enforced a ban on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, for allegedly spreading misinformation

 

So, what will happen with TikTok in the U.S.? That answer might not become clear until after November’s election. On whether the winner is Harris or Trump – and whether what follows brat summer is an ‘Auntie’ autumn, or a ‘weird’ winter.

Canada won a total of 29 medals at the Paralympic Games in Paris, including 10 golds. Swimming and track and field events led the way with a combined 22 medals, including all of our gold wins. Nicholas Bennett, the swimmer from Parksville, B.C. who won two golds and a silver, and canoeist Brianna Hennessy, who won a silver, were chosen as Canada’s flag-bearers for the closing ceremonies.

Former Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, issued a warning on Saturday predicting the United States will collapse in an "imminent new civil war" amid this year's election over Russian sanctions.

 

Since the Russia-Ukraine war began in February 2022, Western countries have imposed sanctions on Moscow, with several thousand sanctions on Russian individuals, businesses, and government institutions. The U.S. has gradually expanded the sanctions it imposed as President Joe Biden issued an executive order in December, which allows the U.S. to directly sanction foreign banks facilitating significant transactions for Russia. Washington threatened to block such banks that conduct business with firms that support Russia's defense industry from its financial system.

 

In a Saturday Telegram message, Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, spoke about the current political climate of the U.S. and the 2024 presidential race, which will see former President Donald Trump, the GOP presidential nominee, face off against Vice President Kamala Harris, who won the Democratic presidential nominee after Biden dropped out of the race on July 21.

 

"Out of spite for the current administration, Donald Trump has threatened to lift sanctions against Russia. But will he really do it if elected? No, of course not. For all his apparent bravado as an 'outsider', Trump is ultimately an establishment insider. Yes, he is an eccentric narcissist, but he is also a pragmatist.


As a businessman, Trump understands that sanctions harm the dollar's dominance in the world. However, that's insufficient reason to stage a revolution in the United States and go against the anti-Russian line of the notorious Deep State, which is much stronger than any Trump," Medvedev said.

 

He added: "But what about Harris? You shouldn't expect any surprises from her. She is inexperienced and, according to her enemies, just plain stupid. Beautiful meaningless speeches and boring 'correct' answers to questions will be prepared for her, which she will read off a teleprompter while laughing contagiously.


There were sanctions against the USSR throughout the 20th century, and they've returned on an unprecedented scale in the 21st. So, it's sanctions forever. Or rather, until the US collapses during an imminent new civil war. After all, Hollywood makes films about this for a reason."

 

Newsweek has reached out to the White House as well as Harris' campaign via email for comment.

 

In response to Medvedev's remarks, in an emailed statement to Newsweek on Saturday, Trump's spokesperson Steven Cheung took aim at Harris by stating, "Putin has endorsed Kamala Harris because he knows she will be a pushover for Russia."

 

This is not the first time Medvedev has warned of a civil war as he previously issued a warning to the U.S. on July 4, suggesting there are parallels between the American Civil War and the current U.S. political climate that hint at a "premonition of civil war."

 

In a July Telegram message, Medvedev acknowledged the significance of Independence Day in America, but then compared the American Civil War to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine as he warned of the political climate in the U.S.

Medvedev has made headlines throughout the war in Ukraine for regular social media rants that have ranged from calls for nuclear strikes on North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) members to suggestions that Moscow has no choice but to eliminate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

 

Responding to a previous inquiry from Newsweek, the U.S. Department of State dismissed the seriousness of Medvedev's various statements.

 

"We know by now not to take Medvedev seriously," a department spokesperson wrote. "This is standard Kremlin nonsense."

The leveraged deal was this: Kissinger essentially said “Hey, we have this worthless paper not backed by anything so we’ll offer you guys our military protection (most advanced at the time) in exchange for you making every nation pay for your oil in US dollars.”

  • ·        Thus, the petro-dollar was born and becomes the “World Reserve Currency.” But now, Saudi is gearing towards backing their oil instead with a gold-backed currency, the Chinese Yuan.

  • ·        China and Russia made a deal a while back, Russia’s oil for the Chinese Yuan. Remember what the Rothschilds did to the Romanov’s and Ras-Putin for rejecting their central bank? See why they want us to fear Putin?

  • ·        Don’t just follow the money, follow the gold specifically. 9/11 was a gold heist (WORLD TRADE center, lots of gold in there). Biden is now calling for Sanctions on Russian gold.

  • ·        The two biggest suppliers of oil (Saudi and Russia) are both looking gold backed, meaning if any nation wants an economy they’ll need to use a gold-backed currency to get it oil to run their economy, at least until zero-point/clean energy tech is fully disclosed. Therefore, a global gold-standard is imminent and no matter where you go, gold is gold is gold implying a full currency reset back to a 1:1 exchange rate globally. Meaning those Zimbabwe notes that have been hyperinflated (say the trillion dollar Zim note that barely covers their monthly food bill) will be worth, a lot….. An unfathomable amount, along with the Iraqi dinar, Russian ruble and other currencies. The meek shall inherent the earth at that point. Third world countries are only poor because they have the most riches and have been oppressed, pillaged, plundered and stripped of them by the Khazarian-Roman-British empire’s dominance that has created a system of usury which in modern times hinges on the US dollar existing.

  • ·        There are humanitarian trusts that have been hoarded for longer than we’d ever guess with Birth Bonds backing them (Strawman Bonds): Lucis Trust, Saint Germain Trust and Cestui Que Vie Trust all compiled, pending to be redistributed back to the World’s population after the global currency reset takes place.

  • ·        Right out of the gate I saw the Zimbabwe movement after CERN flipped back on. That’s what inspired me to post this and synthesis all of these points. Took it as a sign. Even if you haven’t invested in one of the “hot currencies” all will be covered and cleared. The trusts belong to the people; citizens have just been siphoned off of and have largely forgotten their true worth, which is far beyond a price tag.

  • ·        If you follow the Zuckerbuck’s money that poured into the 2020 election, it reveals a massive Dem influence operation.

  • ·        CTCL initiated the use of drop boxes for ballot collection, significantly breaching the chain of custody & failing to maintain proper logs to ensure all improperly cast ballots were not counted.

  • ·        CTCL paid election judges, ordered the consolidation of the counting facilities, paid election officials, dictated the policies that undermined state law, and gave direct access of state voter files to “leftist” groups like ‘Rock The Vote’.

  • ·        In Georgia, 19,000 ballots were counted from a single Zuckerberg dropbox over one weekend, but surveillance shows only 24 people dropping off ballots.

  • ·        Corrupt voting rolls, universal mail-in voting, and Zuckerberg dropboxes are a permanent recipe for ELECTION FRAUD.

  • ·        Imagine having all of this on your side: the media and big tech controlling the flow of information, 1,000 lawyers making c***d-election law changes across 37 states, 35 million more mail-in ballots than 2016, $400 million from Zuckerberg for drop boxes and Facebook ballot-counting arenas. And yet… you were still so far behind on election night… that you had to stop counting ballots in swing states, kick out observers, and sneak pallets full of ballots through the back door.
