RFJ Jr.'s presidential running mate, Nicole Shanahan, shared a detailed account of her conversion and baptism story in a lengthy post on her X account Tuesday.
It's worth reading in full, but Shanahan says her family suffered a loss last September that left them in a dark place. Then she met a Christian minister named Diane, the lead chaplain at Santa Rita Jail, who shared the Gospel with her.
Fast-forward to January during a meeting with Diane:
She moved through [her Bible] with laser precision, guiding me to verse after verse as I struggled to read through my blurry, tear-filled eyes. The pain of life sometimes can consume your entire reality, and the injustice, the loss, and the extreme nature of it all can feel genuinely unbearable.
The weight of the world, perpetuated by greed, lies, and indifference, can often feel hopeless. Diane looked at me and said with absolute certainty that Jesus could save me — that His blood is able to wash away sins and defeat the darkness that haunts the innocent.
Shanahan — a New Age adherent who converted to Judaism in 2014 — explained her journey to faith in Jesus Christ.
For over a decade, I identified as Jewish. But now, with the New Testament in my hands, I see the world's spiritual pain in a way I never could before. It's like a veil has been lifted, revealing a deeper understanding of the struggle between light and darkness.

Barely a week has passed under the Trudeau government when there hasn’t been some kind of taxpayer-funded grant, bursary or zero-interest loan handed out to the private sector. There are whole federal agencies (Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, etc.) whose primary job is to do just this, and the process has continued without interruption.
$40 million in grants to queer groups
This one got a bit of attention on right-wing corners of the internet because it was announced only hours before Canada was set to be plunged into a ruinous trade war with the United States. On Jan. 31, the federal government announced $41.5 million to “106 projects across four different 2SLGBTQI+ funds.”
One more official [aboriginal] apology
The planning for this was obviously in the works long before Trudeau knew he would be quitting, but his ministry will be making one last official apology before it’s all over. On Feb. 27, Indigenous-Crown Relations Minister Gary Anandasangaree will be in Arctic Bay to apologize for the 1934 to 1948 Dundas Harbour relocations. This was a policy wherein Inuit families were relocated to high arctic settlements as a means of asserting Canadian sovereignty, and then not allowed to return to their original homes.
What's next? Trudeau is on a roll, steam-rolling one new development after another.

Israel’s military, in its first major inquiry into Hamas’ 2023 attack that traumatized the nation, admitted to widespread failings.
It didn’t think the Palestinian militant group was interested in or capable of an assault like that launched from Gaza on Oct. 7 of that year, the bloodiest day in Israel’s history.
Hezbollah, another Iran-backed militia based in Lebanon, and Tehran itself had been the main security focus, the Israel Defense Forces said in its report published yesterday.
The military had already apologized and senior commanders, including the chief of staff, Herzi Halevi, have announced their resignations.
While the report avoided scrutinizing politicians’ role, IDF officials denied claims that military resources had been diverted from Gaza to the West Bank for political reasons.
For many Israelis, though, the question is whether the country’s civilian leadership, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, will now commission a wider inquiry into their own actions.
Netanyahu has not acknowledged any personal responsibility for what unfolded that day and says such questions should only be addressed once the war against Hamas — designated a terrorist organization by the US and others — is over.
It’s far from clear when that will happen. A ceasefire between the two sides is set to end this weekend. Israel wants it extended to get the roughly 60 hostages still in Gaza released, although only about a third of them are thought to be alive.
But with Hamas refusing to disarm, the IDF is amassing more forces on the border with the Palestinian territory in preparation for the potential resumption of fighting.
Such an outcome would inevitably lead to more civilian deaths in Gaza, where over 48,000 people have been killed since the conflict began, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

US acknowledges power grid problems:
Trump's high-wire act to transform US power grid won't be easy
Jan 24 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump's oversight of an increasingly unreliable U.S. power grid requires swift action, he said this week, but there is no easy fix for one of the grid's most complex and troubled areas: long-distance transmission lines.
Trump's National Energy Emergency declaration, opens new tab and executive orders, opens new tab detail a long list of interconnected problems dogging an electric grid vulnerable to fuel shortages, soaring demand, and an increasing number of wild weather events.
"There's clearly a recognition of the need to increase energy production broadly in the United States and do it with whatever resources necessary," said Spencer Pederson, a top executive at the National Electrical Manufacturers Association.
Trump's initial moves could help to some degree: The emergency declaration directs agencies to scour their books for laws and regulations that could be used to speed approval and permitting for projects like transmission, and overcome regulatory obstacles that have long hampered big projects.
The executive orders, part of a slew of actions Trump signed his first day in office to accelerate broader energy production, seek to streamline permitting procedures that historically have taken years or even decades.
Morgan Stanley, in a note this week to investors, said Trump's actions "could improve the speed of transmission infrastructure permitting and environmental reviews."
Big obstacles remain. Pederson noted a shortage of large electrical transformers and skilled workers, and added that the U.S. grid's overseas supply chain is still adjusting to being reoriented away from China, a move that began during the first Trump administration.
